Experimentation with Bioplastics and Digital Deformations
This project explores the creation and transformation of bioplastics made from natural ingredients such as water, glycerin, gelatin, and activated charcoal. The experimentation aims not only to understand the physical and chemical properties of these materials but also to explore their potential for sustainable alternatives in design and art. By cooking these elements, a flexible and moldable substance is obtained, which, when processed, becomes a bioplastic with various applications.
Starting from an initial photograph of this bioplastic, I created a series of digital deformations that alter the perception of the material, establishing a dialogue between the organic and the virtual. This series of five digital images not only showcases the versatility of bioplastic as a material but also explores how digital technologies can modify and transform the physical reality of objects. Each image captures a different phase of deformation, creating a visual narrative that invites reflection on the relationships between nature, technology, and sustainability.
This project seeks not only to experiment with new materials but also to question the possibilities that technology offers for reinterpreting the physical world and its boundaries. The series of images is an invitation to consider the future of bioplastics and their role in creating a more eco-conscious and sustainable environment.
